Free Events for Seniors

Addison Park District is pleased to offer a number of free programs for active older adults in the community:

Rules of the Road Review Class

The class is offered to seniors and others who must pass a written test, driving test or eye exam to maintain a valid driver’s license. Road signs, symbols and basic rules of the road will be reviewed. Call the park district at 630-833-0100 for reservations. For more driver's license information, contact the Secretary of State's Office at 630-629-0380.

NOTE: Pre-registration is required.

Fit and Fabulous

Fit & Fabulous Exercise Group

Join the Fit & Fabulous Group for a fun time and great exercise. You can work at your own level of fitness. This class focuses on stretching and mobility exercises to help maintain and enhance activities.

Men's Friday Card Group

Card GroupMen over 60 will enjoy playing cards, chess or checkers with a warm tasty cup of coffee and great company! Great way to meet new friends!

from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Fee: FREE

Bunco Bunch

Enjoy fun with this age-old dice game. Prizes will be awarded for most Bunco games won and most games lost! Join in on the fun with your friends and meet new ones.

Bunco Dates:

July 21
August 18
Time: 12 p.m. lunch, followed by Bunco
Location: Community Senior Leisure Center
Fee: $10 (includes lunch and prizes)

Meals on Wheels Program

This program is designed to provide hot, nutritional meals to Addison seniors (age 60 and older) who are home bound from illness or disability, or who are unable to shop or prepare meals themselves. Meals are delivered Monday - Friday at approximately 12:00 noon. The cost varies among individuals and will be determined upon enrollment.

S.A.L.T.

The Seniors And Law-Enforcement Together program (S.A.L.T.) is a joint venture between the Senior Citizens of Addison, the Addison Police Department and the Addison Park District. The purpose of the S.A.L.T. Council is to reduce the criminal victimization of seniors and provide educational and leisure opportunities. Monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. at Community Rec Center.

BINGOJoin the S.A.L.T. group for a fun-filled day of BINGO! Call 833-0100 for monthly updates, including days and times. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy great coffee, tasty McDonald's food, fun with friends and terrific prizes!

 

 

File of Life Program

This program alerts emergency responders to medical conditions. File for life kit contains an indicator sticker for home exterior, medical information sheet, red magnetic holder for refrigerator and a small personal file that can be carried in your purse or wallet. To receive a File of Life kit, please call Geri Estavnik at (630) 833-0100.

If you're 60 years of age or older, you'll also want to stop by Addison Park District's Senior Club. It meets every Tuesday at 12:00 Noon.

NEDSRA Programs for Active Adults
Northeast DuPage Special Recreation (NEDSRA), a partner in service with the Addison Park District, offers year-round recreation to adults with disabilities. Door to door transportation is offered to many programs.
